When the results come up you will most certainly see ads that say something like "The Hilton Inn /quality stay, affordable prices" Now just stop for a second and think about this. Say you're a company that helps business owners finance their credit challenged customers. Where do you think the first place is that these business owners would go for research on their options?

Now the reason I am writing this for you is because although yes this is a great idea, You can't just go get a Google AdWords account and think you know exactly what's going on. There's a lot of tips and tricks to make it most effective and cost efficient. First you need to understand how the pricing works.

Google AdWords is a PPC (pay per click) source of advertising. Meaning, every time someone clicks on your ad you get charged for that exposure. How much you pay is determined by your placement on the page based on a bidding system, but we'll get to that later. So now that you know that it's a PPC advertising, DON'T tell your friends that you have an ad up and it's on Google and it's so cool, because they will screw with you, they WILL taunt you and scare to believe that they plan on sitting at there computer all day just clicking on your ad. They're all talk, just so you know.

Back to the topic!

So now that you know about the way that you are charged for this, It's important to understand what gets your ad visible, what it is that allows people to see your ad when they search for things on Google. It's based on key-words. So If I go to Google and I type in Wineries in NY, I will see the ads that people have placed on Google about wineries in NY. How do you choose Keywords to get the most quality clicks?

To be honest with you...

Every business using Google AdWords has to go through somewhat of a trial and error phase before they figure out what's best for them. But you don't want to hear that, so I'll give you some advise from what I've done wrong so maybe you can avoid some of the agony. For one, if you have a business that is national, don't implement keywords that are not targeted to your audience specifically. I know, I know you just want to be able to get your name out to the world so everybody knows who you are and that will make you rich and popular and it doesn't matter who sees it as long as everyone can just see it!...WRONG! Think about this, if someone is in search of a personal loan, and your ad comes up and you only work with businesses not consumers, how hot of a lead is that? It's not! they would just waste your money because they are clicking on it for something they can't use it for. So be specific with your key words. Also figure out the best time of day and week is most effective. Sometimes is best to run it only Monday through Friday 8-6, or maybe its best to run it 7 days a week 24 hours a day. You will need to figure this out so that again the quality of the clicks are making your profitable, not more in debt.

The way that the pricing is determined is called bidding...And it's exactly what it sounds like. think of Google ads as an auction. An auction that is selling nothing but the top spot at the very top of the page on Google. Basically, When you are choosing what key words you want to use so people can find you, other ads that are using those key words will bid to be higher on the page than you. I'll say this, Ad number one is over rated, Ad number two is not given enough credit. I have found that if I bid the right amount to be the second ad on the top of the page that I actually get more quality clicks than when I was first on the page. Don't ask me the psychology behind that, just trust me.

So you're asking, how do I know what to bid? Well, based on how many other people are using the keywords you choose, Google will show you what you would need to bid in order to show up on the first page. You have to guess from there on to get to the top (second) . You can let Google automatically bid for you, or you can bid manually. I Strongly strongly recommend manual bids, the computer is, well, a computer and doesn't always know whats best. So bid manually and bid smart.

One thing that I needs to be turned off in most situations is the network exposure. Network exposure is the ads that you see when you are in your email or what not that advertise something about what you are reading about...the key words within the email. Unless you have a lot a lot of money, and your business is already huge than you do not want to be 2nd or first place on Google searches and have network exposure. I had about 17,000 people see my ad within an hour, they had clicked and clicked, and I got no leads from it.

ZERO!!!

So my suggestion to you is to turn that setting off, unless its just so amazing what you're advertising that anyone and everyone would just have to buy your product or services...then do whatever you want, in fact you don't even need Google AdWords if you're that good...
